About the Role
We're partnering with an established early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco that invests in ambitious founders building the next generation of transformative companies. The firm works closely with an exceptional network of entrepreneurs, investors, and operators, creating opportunities for meaningful connections across the startup ecosystem.
As Marketing & Events Associate, you'll play a central role in bringing the firm's brand and community to life through thoughtful events, engaging content, and exceptional experiences. You'll own the details behind marketing initiatives, community gatherings, and day-to-day office operations while working closely with the team and interacting with founders, limited partners, and industry leaders.
This is a highly visible, hands-on opportunity for someone early in their career who thrives on variety, enjoys bringing people together, and wants meaningful ownership. You'll have the opportunity to develop new event concepts, coordinate marketing programs, build relationships across the venture ecosystem, and help create an environment where exceptional people can connect.
The role is based onsite in San Francisco five days per week, with occasional evening and weekend commitments for events.
What You'll Do
Plan and execute events from concept through completion, including developing new formats, managing invitations, coordinating logistics, overseeing on-site experiences, and driving post-event follow-up.
Manage event communications and relationships with attendees, speakers, founders, investors, and other community members to ensure a thoughtful, high-quality experience.
Coordinate marketing initiatives across the firm's podcast, newsletter, website, and social media channels, maintaining production schedules and ensuring consistent brand messaging.
Oversee external marketing contractors, including social media managers, video editors, and production partners, keeping deliverables organized, on schedule, and aligned with expectations.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather content ideas, identify event opportunities, manage competing priorities, and keep marketing projects moving forward.
Serve as a welcoming point of contact for founders, investors, and visitors, ensuring the office and meeting spaces are prepared for an exceptional guest experience.
Manage day-to-day office operations, including supplies, merchandise, gifts, shipping, vendor relationships, facilities needs, and visitor access.
Coordinate and troubleshoot office technology and audiovisual equipment for meetings, podcast recordings, and events.
Identify opportunities to streamline recurring workflows, improve coordination, and leverage technology and AI tools to make marketing, events, and office operations more efficient.
Who You Are
You have approximately 2–6 years of professional experience, ideally involving events, marketing, community engagement, hospitality, office operations, or a similarly fast-paced environment.
You're genuinely excited about creating memorable experiences, bringing people together, and developing creative marketing and community initiatives.
You're exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and competing priorities without losing track of the small things.
You're personable, energetic, and comfortable interacting with founders, senior executives, investors, vendors, and colleagues.
You're tech-savvy and quick to learn new systems, with experience using spreadsheets, CRM platforms, marketing tools, and basic audiovisual technology.
You're curious about AI and actively look for opportunities to automate workflows, improve processes, and work more efficiently.
You're proactive, resourceful, and comfortable taking ownership of projects without needing extensive direction or a predefined playbook.
You have strong written and verbal communication skills and know how to follow through, keep stakeholders informed, and represent an organization professionally.
You're adaptable and energized by a role where priorities shift, unexpected needs arise, and no two days look exactly the same.
You bring a low-ego, hands-on approach and are equally comfortable developing a creative event concept and handling the operational details required to make it successful.
You're enthusiastic about entrepreneurship, startups, and the opportunity to build relationships within the venture capital ecosystem.
You're based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate, can work onsite five days per week, and have flexibility for occasional evening and weekend events.
