About the Role
We’re partnering with an early-stage AI company founded by former leaders from a major technology company and backed by top-tier venture investors and angels. The company is building at the intersection of AI, reinforcement learning, and business outcomes, tackling a category that is still being defined in real time. As Chief of Staff, your mandate is simple: create leverage for the founders and make the company more operationally effective as it scales.
You’ll work directly with three founders, taking entire categories of work off their plates and owning them end to end. That could mean building the systems that protect founder time, running core business operations, managing offices and vendors, driving accountability across recruiting, or building an AI-powered internal tool to eliminate a recurring process altogether.
This is a hands-on operator role for someone who can move seamlessly between the tactical and strategic, identify what needs to happen before being asked, and build the infrastructure that allows a fast-moving company to operate at a higher level. The scope is intentionally designed to grow. What you own in your first few months should look meaningfully different from what you own a year later.
What You'll Do
Serve as a force multiplier for the founders by protecting their time, reducing unnecessary context switching, and taking meaningful areas of ownership completely off their plates.
Build and manage the systems surrounding founder priorities, including travel, investor cadences, approvals, signatures, scheduling, and critical follow-ups.
Support design partner and customer cadences, ensuring commitments stay on track and the right people remain accountable.
Drive accountability across the recruiting pipeline and help create a strong, consistent onboarding experience for new employees.
Own recurring business operations including accounting coordination, reporting deadlines, vendor management, invoices, AR/AP, and other operational workflows.
Serve as the operational anchor for the Seattle office while helping manage the company's broader workplace needs, including contractors, office searches, events, and its Bay Area presence.
Identify work that is falling between functions or lacks a clear owner and proactively take responsibility for moving it forward.
Represent the founders in conversations, projects, or operational matters where their direct involvement isn't necessary.
Manage relationships and operating cadences with advisors and mentors, ensuring the company is getting meaningful value from those relationships.
Plan and execute company events, dinners, team experiences, and other initiatives that strengthen the organization as it grows.
Build internal tools using AI to automate recurring work and improve how the company operates, from recruiting and compensation planning to competitive intelligence and internal knowledge.
Maintain visibility into key GTM and product metrics, customer escalations, and operational signals, identifying when something looks off and ensuring it reaches the right owner.
Continuously identify opportunities to create more leverage, improve processes, and increase the number of priorities the company can execute simultaneously.
Success will be measured by leverage, not activity: giving each founder meaningful hours back every week, moving entire projects and recurring responsibilities off their plates, reducing context switching, and increasing the company's overall operating capacity.
Who You Are
You’re an owner. When something lands with you, people trust that it will be handled from beginning to end without needing to check back.
You’re highly proactive and naturally notice gaps, dependencies, and potential problems before they become urgent.
You’re comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where priorities change quickly and the answer is rarely written down for you.
You have exceptional judgment and can be trusted with sensitive information including investor communications, compensation, financial information, and founder-level decisions.
You’re excited about AI and actively look for ways to use it to automate work, build internal tools, and improve how the company operates. You don’t need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable experimenting and building with AI.
You can move between strategic thinking and highly tactical execution without attaching status to either.
You know how to create accountability, push for follow-through, and hold a high bar while maintaining strong relationships.
You’re exceptionally organized and capable of managing multiple workstreams without allowing important details to fall through the cracks.
You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can represent founders effectively when needed.
You’re low ego but high conviction: willing to do the unglamorous work required to keep a company moving while also speaking up when you believe there’s a better way.
You’re energized by the opportunity to build the operating infrastructure of a company rather than inherit systems that already exist.
You’re based in Seattle or willing to relocate and comfortable working primarily onsite, with occasional travel to the Bay Area.
